8-Hour Unarmed Security Online Guard Card Course

Arizona Security Group is proud to have been the first security training facility in Arizona to have a fully qualified, online unarmed guard card class. This course is the equivalent of our 8-hour classroom-only training session. When you complete the class you will have the basic knowledge to qualify for the Arizona unarmed guard card. This class also satisfies the requirements for a renewal license every 2 years as the new and renewal courses are the same.

Online Course Details

The online guard card course covers the topics required to obtain an Arizona Unarmed Guard Card and start a security industry career.

ASG offers digital fingerprinting and photo services to students for $20 on Saturdays. Students who take the unarmed guard course online can set an appointment with us. Alternatively, students can purchase these services separately from a local provider.

Notes for Our Online Unarmed Guard Training

The course consists of several basic topics to provide students with a solid understanding of the functions, roles, and responsibilities of security work in Arizona. The course is broken down into modules with lessons and must be completed in order.

Course Completion

While students can stop or pause training to fit their schedule, the course must be completed within 90 days once started. All lessons must be completed to pass the course.

Final Exam

Students must pass the final exam with an average score of 70% or better to complete the course. Only two attempts are allowed for each quiz and the final exam. If you fail the final exam two times, the course is failed and you will be required to retake the course at cost.

Guard Card Paperwork

Guard Card paperwork will be emailed to you within 3 business days of course completion to the email address on file with your account. Your paperwork will be filled out using the information on your profile. Check your profile for correct information! ASG may not reissue updated forms if your paperwork is incorrect.

License Fees

The unarmed guard course fee does not include license fees paid to AZ DPS. As of 2024, the cost of the unarmed guard license is $72. DPS can only accept the following forms of payment, made payable to the Arizona Department of Public Safety: cashier’s check, money order, or check drawn on a business account.

Should I take this class if I need to renew my license?

Yes. The online 8-hour unarmed guard card course satisfies the requirements for your 2-year license renewal.

When will I get my paperwork for the online class?

Your registration application and training verification form will be emailed to you within 3 business days. We will use the information from your account with us to complete your paperwork, so please make sure it’s up-to-date and correct. The email address on your account is where we will be sending it. Please check your spam folder!

What are the general requirements to be an unarmed security guard?

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older.
Must be a US citizen or have a legal right to work in the US.
Must not be convicted of a felony, or under indictment of one.
Must not be on parole, probation, or on a sex offender list.
Must not be a prohibited possessor.
Must not be deemed mentally incompetent.
No bad conduct, dishonorable or other than honorable discharge from the military.
